Bears come up short in a shootout
Unaffected by the result Bears captain Michael Schlamp spoke about the game, "At the start of the year we're short on numbers, so it's tough," adding that, "We'll go back and sharpen our skills to be ready for the next game."
Starting off well as they did in Saturday’s game against The Mustangs, The Bears took the lead early with Michael Schlamp scoring off a rebound after Vlad Rubes shot from the top of the crease. Adrenaline import Mike Werner managed to equalise for the Adrenaline just before the end of the 1st period.
Both teams struggled in the 2nd period to make a difference, with both team being sent to the box for minor penalties. Daniel Shaw brought the Bears close to retaking the lead when he sent Michael Schlamp on a shorthanded breakaway, but was unable to control the bouncing puck before a poke check from the the Adrenaline's goaltender.
The Adrenaline were stronger in the 3rd period, captain Greg Oddy deflecting a pass from Josef Rezek to put the Adrenaline in the lead with only 5 mins to go. A win seemed inevitable until Vlad Rubes manage to equalise again after finding himself wide open. The winning team would be determined by a staged shootout, The Adrenaline coming out victorious after Dean Petersen and Josef Rezek found the net.

The Bears have a sizeable home game break to regroup, coming back to the Penrith Ice Palace on May the 8th against the Newcastle Northstars at 5pm.
